He created the well-known Sherlock Holmes, and his stories are considered the milestones of crime fiction. Conan Doyle wrote other novels and short stories,\n                      but I would like to concentrate on what is considered as the canon of Sherlock Holmes, four novels and fifty-six short stories, collected in five books. The term &#8221;\n                      <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Canon_(fiction)\" style=\"color: windowtext;\"\n                        class=\"customize-unpreviewable\">canon<\/a>&#8221; is an attempt to distinguish between Doyle&#8217;s original works and subsequent works by other authors using the same characters.
