A young writer meets an older woman and slowly realizes that she is falling in love. Embracing a queer identity is new to her, and she gradually learns to let go of her assumptions and trust her feelings instead. Their relationship unfolds with all the tenderness, uncertainty, joy, and heartbreak that come with love, before eventually coming to an end. It seems that this novella is a classic book that queers lend to each other and somehow never get back. I found the narrator\u2019s growing understanding of herself deeply moving. What makes the story so beautiful is that it treats queer love simply as love: complex, passionate, painful, and ordinary in the best possible way. It resembles many great heterosexual love stories, and that feels good. Love is love, with all its ups and downs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
