Her sister still lives there, along with their uncle, his wife and her teenage son. Annie is reluctant to part with the ashes, creating tensions that gradually bring the past back to the surface. The entire play takes place inside the house, in a unique set design that frames the intense interactions between the characters. Loosely inspired by <em>Antigone<\/em>, it explores the conflict between an uncle and his niece over the fate of a deceased family member. The story becomes increasingly moving as we begin to understand all that scattering the ashes really means. I had already seen Zeldin\u2019s <em>Une mort dans la famille<\/em> and appreciated the themes he explores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>&#8220;Chris : Fuck, you&#8217;re so like him&#8230; <br>Fuck me! Fuck you! Fuck me. Fuck you.<br>Annie : Why are you here?<br>Chris takes the tea towel and places it over his head. His face is like a mask.<br>Chris : Because the summer I was with you here is the last time I was alive.<br>Annie comes closer.<br>Annie : Do they know how weird you are?<br>Chris : No. Only you know how weird I am.<br>Annie lifts the tea towel over so that it is like a little tent over them. She puts her head under it so that they are very close.<br>Chris : And I know how weird you are.<br>Annie . Everyone knows how weird I am.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Creation the 27 september 2024 at the Lyttelton Theatre.
