Jodi Picoult is an American writer who is quite prolific. She writes mainly novels but has also produced a few short stories and several issues of Wonder Woman which have been compiled in one volume. Her stories have a common theme, families, where there is normally an event that will tear the members apart, often a medical and/or a legal dilemma. I usually pick her last novel in airports, at least I used to, and do not put the book down before finishing it… in tears every time.
