Kate Atkinson is an English writer and Member of the Order of British Empire for her contribution to literature. Her novels can be divided in two. First the Jackson Brodie novels, stories around this private investigator, former solider and policeman but a softie, that have been adapted to television. Then the other novels, with themes revolving around family and therefore birth, marriages, death, with sometimes a small magic touch. Very different stories, but all read with great pleasure.
