Road Dahl (1916-1990) books for children must be part of everyone’s childhood souvenirs. For me at least, his stories convey moments of carefreeness and lightness. I remember wishing for a bar of chocolate with a golden ticket inside it before realising that I never won anything in these kinds of giveaways. James and the Giant Peach was my favourite story. This book followed me throughout my teenage years, when the English teacher asked me to choose a book to talk about at the end of the school year. I don’t know Roald Dahl’s novels, but have read the two volumes of short stories. For the moment, I will concentrate on reading or re-reading his children’s novels.
