One day, 15 July 1988, Emma and Dexter spend the night together, beginning a very close and complex friendship. We then see them every year, on the same day, for twenty years, through their evolving loves and careers, and the changing intertwined nature of their bond. To say more would be spoiler alert, but the ending is beautiful. Special mention to Anne Hathaway as Emma, so sweet. It’s a film that could be subtitled “Carpe diem”, about the fragility of life and the value of meaningful relationships.
