All set in Greece, this is a collection of short stories about families, traditions, reunions and separations… A priest whose love for a woman is revealed to her by his parrot, a love that is discovered after years on the day of their respective weeding to someone else, the revelation that your grandfather is not the man you think he is, love at first sight for a stranger who will never return to your bakery. All stories have this “what if” in them. If I had stayed, if I had admitted, if I had only dared. And I really liked the descriptions of these Greek villages, landscapes and people. A nice little moment.

“Once again she looked at the picture on the front of the newspaper and examined the familiar features. For all those weeks she had only seen their perfection but now she saw them twisted by an all-consuming rage and noticed again the devilish look she had seen in the street that night. And in that moment the flame went out. Even the memory of it chilled her, right to the heart.”
