Frank, a television producer, navigates through his little addiction to betting, where he encounters a talking horse and a talking dog, his peculiar love life, perhaps more so his peculiar future wife’s family, and meets the queen of a fairy tale that appeared in the first short story. Death is never far away, with apocalyptic events and the afterlife. And this goes on through eleven stories that are surprisingly linked to each other. The stories are grounded in reality, but also have a crazy twist and humour is never far away. Eclectic and funny. I spent a really nice moment with this book.
“He had managed to avoid being cut by Vera’s hair, but he’d been carved up by her elbows and knees. Franklin had never been to bed with such a bony woman; it had been like having sex with a rather irritable skeleton.”
