Life goes on serenely in a colourful, suburban American town. That is, until Peg goes up to the gothic mansion and returns with a humanoid creature that has scissors instead of hands. A peculiar Johnny Depp. Initially, everyone is curious and welcoming, but then things deteriorate. With themes of solitude and difference, this was the first collaboration between Burton and Depp. There is also the adorable Winona Ryder, who plays Edward’s crush. Despite its age, this film still tells a touching story.
