First watched in 2021, it’s always a pleasure to return to a Tarantino film, and this one is a perfect example of why. It’s sharp, irreverent, and unapologetically gory – Tarantino never holds back when it comes to bloodshed. The cast is outstanding: a deliciously sleazy Leonardo DiCaprio, a flawless Christoph Waltz, and an irresistibly charismatic Jamie Foxx. Bursting with color, action, and dark humor, it’s a highly entertaining and memorable film.
“Dr. King Schultz: [aiming .45-70 rifle at fleeing Ellis Brittle] You sure that’s him?
Django: Yeah.
Dr. King Schultz: Positive?
Django: I don’t know.
Dr. King Schultz: You don’t know if you’re positive?
Django: I don’t know what ‘positive’ means.
Dr. King Schultz: It means you’re sure.
Django: Yes.
Dr. King Schultz: Yes, what?
Django: Yes, I’m sure that’s Ellis Brittle.
[Schultz shoots Brittle off his horse]
Django: I’m positive he dead.”
