Although fictional, the film is inspired by British pirate radio stations of the 1960s. It follows a group of eccentric DJs living on a boat at sea, broadcasting music to a loyal audience, while the government tries to shut them down. The boat becomes a small world of its own, where friendships grow, tensions rise, and emotions run high. Despite their differences, the characters form a strong bond, built on shared passion and loyalty. The film mixes humour and emotion, while celebrating freedom—especially the freedom to speak, to be oneself, and to share music. In the end, it is a warm and uplifting story about friendship, rebellion, and the joy of living. I just love it.
