Mickey is an expendable worker sent on a colonisation mission to Niflheim, a distant, icy planet. Whenever he dies during a dangerous assignment, his body is reprinted and his memories restored. However, a glitch in the system eventually results in two Mickeys being alive at the same time, something strictly forbidden by the colony’s ruthless leader, who seems to be little more than a puppet in the hands of his ambitious wife. Written and directed by Bong Joon-ho, the director of Parasite, this is a dark but genuinely funny film. It combines absurdity with sharp social criticism, touching on the disposability of both human and animal life, all wrapped up in a science-fiction setting. I was also impressed by Robert Pattinson’s performance. I think I might actually be starting to like him! All in all, a really enjoyable time.

Mickey 17 : « I don’t like you. You’re such a little…»
Mickey 18 : « But I’m you. »
Mickey 17 : « I’m not you. I’m not going to live like you. I’m going to kill you.»
