Saki, aka Hector Hugh Monroe, who is thought to be the master of short stories, gives us here a small horror story told to three young, bored children on a train. It’s the story of a little girl who was so good that she received three medals, one for obedience, one for punctuality and one for good behaviour. But the clinking of her medals gave her away…Quite a horrible ending, I wonder what the three children listening to the story will keep of it. That one does not always win being extraordinarily good ?
“Both the aunt and the children were conversational in a limited, persistent way, reminding one of the attentions of a housefly that refuses to be discouraged.”
