This short story was published in “Tampa Bay Noir”, a collection of short stories that is part of a series of original noir anthologies. This story features Michael Connelly’s most famous detective Harry Bosch, now retired from the LAPD. An ex-girlfriend calls for help. Someone stole a portrait of him that she painted years ago. He doesn’t take very long to get his hands back on it. A pleasant little story.

“A man covets what he can’t have. You couldn’t have Jasmine so you bought her paintings. She’d sell you anything but the one on her own wall. So you coveted it and you took it.”
