Anthony is an old man. Stubborn, he refuses any help from his daughter Anne. But slowly things around him change. He seems to forget where he lives, confuses his caretaker with his deceased daughter Lucy, doesn’t recognise his son-in-law. Dementia takes possession of this man and lands him in a confused and unrecognizable world that threatens and scares him. This is beautifully brought to us with time and places swirling around, reflecting what Anthony lives, challenging our brains to try to rebuild a logical narrative when there is none. It is really upsetting to touch this sensation. Anthony Hopkins, 83 years old, is incredible in this role, nearly carrying the film on his own. A marvellous and so touching film.

“I feel as if I am loosing all my leaves. The branches and the wind and the rain. I don’t know what’s happening anymore.”
