Suburbicon is a well-to-be white 1950s suburban community. However, two disturbing things happen in this area. Gardner Lodge’s wife is murdered during a home invasion. As Gardner and his sister-in-law conspire to collect on the life insurance, their behaviour becomes increasingly suspicious. Meanwhile, a black family, the Meyers, moves into this white neighbourhood, facing intense racism. Directed by George Clooney and written by the Coen brothers, with Mat Damon and Julianne Moore, this dark, crazy thriller, tinted with humour, highlights the hypocrisy and dark underbelly of suburban America. A really twisted film.

“- I was just rereading some of that book you gave me?
– Life races?
– Yeah, doctor…
– Evan Maslansky.
– Right.
– You know how he says that life is a series of races, and you have to triumph over each one before you proceed to the next?
– Hmm.
– Evan says that when you find a hurdle in one of your liferaces, you can either remove it or choose another life race. Well, I just think we’re being tested, Gardner.
– Maybe, Margaret.”
