This is a modern version of Aladdin but the Wish Dragon is much cuter than the genie, a big fluffy pink dragon with a witty sense of humour. Brought up together in a poor neighbourhood in Shangai, Din and Li Na are best friends. But Li Na leaves for a better life and becomes a model. Having become an adult, Din receives one day a teapot, from which appears the Wish Dragon. This genie will grant three wishes. So, Din decides to appear as a rich princeling to reconnect with Li Na. Obviously, things don’t quite work out as predicted. Din realises that maybe money is important after all, Li Na that money is not that important and the Wish Dragon that friendship does count. Even though based on a theme that has been used and reused, the Wish Dragon is a nice little film to look at.
