The Grinch hates Christmas even though we don’t know why. He hates especially the singing so comes up with a plan. If he steals all the Christmas shenanigans, the people of Whoville will be so sad, that they won’t sing… but the Grinch’s plan fails. This original story of the Grinch is really cute, with a lovely moral, and it is nice to see that the animated film also sticks closely to the book.

“And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: “How could it be so?
“It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
“It came without packages, boxes or bags!”
And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.
“Maybe Christmas … perhaps. . . means a little bit more!”
