This exhibition has three different types of artwork. First paintings, books, and prints by Hokusai himself. Then works by his teachers. And finally, work done by students and admirers. Nearly 300 different pieces of art. Of course, there was “Under the Wave off Kanagawa”, which is surprisingly tiny, and creations around this wave, John Cederquist’s “How to Wrap Five Waves”, Roy Lichtenstein’s “Drowning Girl”, Andy Warhol’s “The Great Wave (After Hokusai)”, and even a Lego model. An impressive exhibition.

“If heaven had granted me five more years, I could have become a real painter.”
