Winslow Homer was an American artist who was born in Boston and lived in Cambridge. He started out as an illustrator before moving on to painting in oils and watercolours. This exhibition mainly focused on his watercolours, although a few oil paintings were also on display. I must say that I really preferred the watercolours; they gave all of his scenes a translucent and very serene vibe. He painted in a variety of settings, including Maine, the Adirondack Mountains, the English coast and the Caribbean. I had never heard of this painter before, but I’m glad I discovered him.
