Benoît Blanc is back for the third instalment of the Knives Out mystery series. This time, the story takes place in the small parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Fortitude, which is dominated by the somewhat tyrannical Monsignor Jefferson Wick. However, he has a flock of followers who believe in him. A young subordinate priest named Jud is sent there as a punishment and is seen as a nuisance by all. During a mass, Monsignor Wick is found dead in a closet, stabbed by a knife. Benoît Blanc is called in to solve this intricately complicated murder. Daniel Craig is incredible as Benoit Blanc – this role is a perfect fit for him. The story is really good – full of improbable solutions, but fun! I love these films!

Benoit Blanc : Well, the architecture, that interests me. I feel the grandeur, the… the mystery, the intended emotional effect. It’s… And it’s like someone has shone a story at me that I do not believe. It’s built upon the empty promise of a child’s fairy tale filled with malevolence and misogyny and homophobia and its justified untold acts of violence and cruelty while all the while, and still, hiding its own shameful acts. So like an ornery mule kicking back, I want to pick it apart and pop its perfidious bubble of belief and get to a truth I can swallow without choking. The rafter details are very fine, though. Listen… you want to kick me out, you go right ahead.
