Burt and Vicky are driving through the endless cornfields of Nebraska when a young boy suddenly runs out of the crops and is hit by their car. Shocked, they rush to help him, only to discover that he was already dead before the accident – his throat has been slit. Wanting to report the death, they head to the nearby town of Gatlin. This is a story by Stephan King. Firstly, nothing goes according to plan. And secondly, what happens is disturbing and sinister. This is a wonderfully creepy and gruesome tale. I loved it.

“He was gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles were white. He decided he was holding it that tightly because if he loosened up, why, one of those hands might just fly off and hit the ex-Prom Queen beside him right in the chops. We’re saving our marriage, he told himself. Yes. We’re doing it the same way us grunts went about saving villages in the war.”
