The trial of Persephone and Demeter continues amid glorious chaos, with the gods happily denouncing and accusing one another. Zeus is determined to set an example by sentencing Persephone to exile from the Mortal Realm. She must fulfil her duties as Goddess of Spring while also taking on Demeter’s responsibilities. Meanwhile, Demeter is stripped of her powers and condemned to live among mortals as a human. Ten years later, Persephone has completed her punishment, but Zeus has still not lifted it, despite growing signs that something is seriously wrong in the Underworld and that other people are suffering. Eventually, Persephone decides to find out what has happened to Hades, and she will have to confront Kronos to save him. Turning Greek mythology into a kind of divine sitcom was a brilliant idea. The myths may be somewhat twisted, but the humour, absurdity, and larger-than-life personalities make these books incredibly entertaining. I’m having a lot of fun with this series.
