Evelyn is a middle-aged Chinese American immigrant who runs a laundromat with her husband, Waymond. She also has a daughter, Joy. She is facing two problems : her husband wants to serve her divorce papers mainly to sit down and discuss their life and the IRS that are auditing her laundromat. During a meeting with the IRS, Evelyn falls into a parallel world, the Alphaverse, where she meets alpha-Waymond that explains that many parallel universes exist because every life choice creates a new alternative universe. Alphaverse currently has to stop Jobu Tupaki, which is Alpha-Joy, because she is destroying these parallel worlds. From then on, Evelyn will fight and succeed in saving these worlds and her daughter. A totally absurd film, funny, witty, and really excellent.

“- Here, let me help you open up your mind. Open up, it’s OK, it’s Ok, take a peek.
– What is that ?
– I got bored one day and I put everything on a bagel. Everything. All my hopes and dreams, my report cards, every breed of dog, every last personal add on Craigslist, sesame, poppy seed, salt. And it collapsed in on itself because you see, when you really put everything on a bagel it becomes this. The truth.
– What is the truth ?
– Nothing matters.
– No, Joy, you don’t believe that.
– Feels nice, doesn’t it ? If nothing matters then all the pain and guilt you feel for making nothing of your life goes away.”
