Heidi lives peacefully in the Swiss mountains and loves Peter the goat. But Switzerland is ruled by the fascist President Meili, who imposes his cheese on the entire population. Goat Peter and Heidi’s grandfather are killed by Meili’s soldiers and Heidi is imprisoned. The naïve little mountain girl must become a ruthless warrior to free her country from dictatorship. This exploitation film, constructed as a parody and peppered with references to other films in the same genre, is surprising and disconcerting. I spent my time between laughter and disbelief. As the directors said in an interview, half the people will love the film and half will hate it. But hats off to the filmmakers for their feat of raising the money via crowdfunding and making the film in twenty-seven days.

“You may leave whenever you please. The weapons, they stay. I am Helvetia, Guardian of the Motherhood. Lust for vengeance flows through your veins. Many things you shall learn, young cub. Forget joy, forget sorrow, forget love, forget hate. Follow the whispering leaves and the call of the mountain goat.”
