Walt Kowalski is a grumpy Korean War veteran living in a Detroit neighbourhood, where Hmong immigrant neighbours are now living. After a teenage boy named Thao tries to steal his cherished 1972 Gran Torino, Walt unexpectedly befriends him. In the end, he protects Thao’s family from gang violence and, through his sacrifice, finds redemption for his past. A classic, very touching film with an intelligent ending.
