Blake is engaged to Krista and has a high-flying job — the one he has always wanted. But suddenly, his life crumbles down: he loses his job and has to take in a tenant to pay the mortgage on his fancy brown house. And things just keep getting worse. All of these McFadden books have the same structure, with the twist revealed in the second part. In this novel, however, the twist is well hidden until the end, which makes for an enjoyable read. I must admit that I find it difficult not to feel stressed for the characters who experience such unimaginable moments.
“If she had sex with a guy, she’d probably have to devour him after the mating ritual was over.”
