A look back on a year of books is also a look back on a year of life, another one. This year, I read 170 books summing up to 30’486 pages. So what about life ? A lot of work but interesting, with nice developments, a lot of love and beautiful weekends and an intense family life with its ups and downs. Also, questioning about age and end of life and what it’s worth. So globally a normal year.

Some books always stand out. Looking back at the books that I gave five stars, I feel that I am sometimes too generous. Because amongst these, the books that leave a real imprint are mainly those that take my emotions in a bundle, shake them and let them drop to the floor, letting me put them back in order afterwards. So which were those : Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, Without Prejudice by Nicola Williams, Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, Ma Belle by Camille Anseaume, Women Holding Things by Maira Kalman and Atlantis. A Journey in Search of Beauty by Carlo and Renzo Piano. A small selection amongst other wonderful books.
