Tim Harford studies complex systems. Through this Ted talk, he tries to explain why we very often address problems the wrong way… because the human being suffers from the God Complex. What is this “disease” ? Hartford describes the symptoms as “no matter how complicated the problem, you have an absolutely overwhelming belief that you are infallibly right in your solution.”, meaning we are incapable of questioning ourselves. And the solution would be to accept that the best method is the trial and error method. Accepting failure and starting again. He says that medical doctors suffer a lot from this complex… I can connect to that on an everyday basis. Very interesting.

“Now some of you will be wondering what marmite is. Marmite is a breakfast spread beloved of the British. It looks like crude oil. It tastes … zesty. And importantly, it’s a rich source of vitamin B12.”
