A college student aged 17 is murdered in Nightmute, Alaska. Two homicide detectives from Los Angeles, namely Will Dormer and Hap Eckhart, have been requested to provide assistance. These detectives are under scrutiny for using dubious evidence in some of their cases. Eckhert wants to testify, and Dormer disapproves. Chasing the suspect of the murder, Dormer kills Eckhert and the suspect, a writer named Finch, sees this happen. Dormer and Finch will find a way to get away from these crimes. The plot is very witty, with Al Pacino as Dormer, suffering from insomnia in Alaska where night never happens, and Roby Williams as Finch, a nasty human being, not quite the role we are used to seeing him in. Not to mention the way tiredness is captured, not obvious apart from Nolan. Amazing.

You don’t get it do you, Finch ? You’re my job. You’re what I’m paid to do. You’re about as mysterious to me as a blocked toilet is to a fucking plumber. Reasons for doing what you did ? Who gives a fuck ?”
