Rather than three bodies, this series has three intricate storylines. The first is that of a young Chinese astrophysicist during the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s who is sent to a remote military communication base and decides to answer an alien message sent from a population called the San-Ti. The second story takes place in the present, when several scientists are committing suicide, and then others are trying to save the world before the San-Ti arrive. The third storyline occurs in a virtual reality, where the San-Ti can communicate with humans. Based on the Chinese novel The Three-Body Problem by Liu Cixin, this series is captivating, mixing history, science, science-fiction, and emotions. The only drawback is that it ends nowhere, so I will have to wait for a second season… or read the books.
